Founded by award-winning creative director Scott Hultgren, Valhalla specializes in creating brand value through better experiences.

Valhalla connects clients to their consumers through literal, physical or emotional experiences with graphics & marketing programs that elevate brand positioning while increasing sales. Our identities grow beyond the brand, becoming visual representations of a demographic and spaces we’ve created are interesting enough to be regularly posted on social media.

Design & Conquer isn’t just a motto, it’s a way of life. The real-world is a nonstop design critique, constantly being analyzed to find ways to make it better. We love conquering design dilemmas & Making Things Awesome.

Our clients are our best salesmen.

Our clients are our best salesmen.

By telling their friends & colleagues about the great work we do and bring our services with them when they change positions, they bring Valhalla most of its workload.

Seemingly trivial but it’s something that makes us extremely proud. We’ve worked with many of our clients for 10+ years and have become good friends in the process. By providing awesome work delivered on time, we built a foundation that makes these types of relationships possible.

We’re very grateful for having the opportunity to work with friends on fun projects and appreciate them going out of their way to recommend us to others.

They say it better than we do.

“The creative and design work was so complete and amazing it was only surpassed by the beauty and distinguished manner in which Scott handled himself.”

Tom DeLonge

Musician, Producer , Director & Entrepreneur (Blink 182 / Angels & Airwaves / To The Stars)

“I have worked with Scott on many creative projects and in each and every case, he performed a fantastic job. Scott is an extremely creative and dynamic design professional who consistently over-delivers. Scott was really versatile and worked well with each and every member of our highly diverse, international team. During the ideation and creative phase, Scott brought considered and valuable new thinking to the brand and products we were creating. Scott works extremely hard and yet he has the rare ability to always kept things fun and optimistic. He brings positive energy and creativity that helps to motivate the entire team. Scott’s a pleasure to have as a team-member and I would highly recommend him.”

Tobin Teichgraeber

Senior Head of Product, Americas Region at Puma (former Helly Hansen VP Global Product & Marketing)

“While working at Helly Hansen, I had the pleasure of contracting Scott on a variety of design projects. Scott always brought a fresh point of view that reflected his connection and passion to the winter-sports market. Scott continued to over-deliver and overwhelm whether it was concepting, product design, graphics, presentations or casual conversation. I was always impressed with Scott’s ability to understand our consumer and the market we played in. His insights were unique and imaginative. His positive energy and work ethic always raised the mood of the room, as well as challenged those around him to do better.”

Joshua Zadoff

Sr. Director Global Category Apparel Lead at Nike

“Scott joined me as our creative director to launch Atomic Snowboards globally from the USA. I wanted west coast up to the minute connection to the action sports trends and Scott to create something different so we could stand out, but still retail easily. Within 2 years we went from an obscure Austrian Ski Racing brand and broke into the top ten snowboard brands in the USA, according to SIA data. This is crazy how far we came in such a short time and I owe a ton of our success to the look and feel that Scott created for our graphics and marketing. I would recommend him to anyone that wants to kick ass!”

Luke Edgar

VP Specialty Sales – Traeger Wood Fired Grills (Previously GM – Atomic Snowboarding)

“”I have a lot of stupid ideas for shirts and stickers and fairly pointless entertaining graphic needs. Scott has been my go to guy for a while now. Somehow always knowing exactly what my scattered mind needs in graphic form.”

– Todd Richards

Olympic Snowboarder, Television Commentator, Funnyguy, Saint Archer & Villager Goods Ambassador

“Not only does he bring you extremely useful gifts like pineapple infused vodka, Scott has been a pleasure to work with on every level. We have worked with him for a variety of different initiatives from simple tshirt design to complex media packaging under extremely tight deadlines and he has risen to every occasion exceeding what was asked of him.”

Kari DeLonge

EVP Product at To The Stars, Inc

“Being a designer myself, it’s rare to find another designer that can work seamlessly with me between three brands. Scott is extremely talented to be able to switch gears between our luxury and youthful brands, always with a positive attitude. We have a great time swapping ideas and laughing along the way.”

Patrick Moran

Creative Director – HRE Wheels, HRE FlowForm Wheels, Akrapovic Exhaust USA/Canada

“In this day and age that all are calling them selves designers there is very few people that can come through with designs that truly meet your expectations. I have felt this way since first working with Scott Hultgren in 2000. Scott is very in tune with the market place and takes his researching of what your needs as a brand are very seriously. As he is not only a designer he is our consumer in our industry.

This gives him a leg up on any graphic designers that I met. I would highly refer Scott and Valhalla to all out there that need to step it up! ”

Ron Bonner

Owner / Founder of BMX Superbrand The Shadow Conspiracy

“Scott does great work and has been a great resource for me over the past 10 years. I wrangle brands for a living and Scott provides design work that is perfectly just ahead of the curve, on time and on budget.”

– Julian Coffey

VP Business Development – Kali Protectives

“Scott has been an amazing design resource for me over the years. He has consistently provided me with timely, relevant, progressive work that is both creative and commercially viable.”

– Chris Miller

Skateboarding Legend, Founder Earth Products, Adio Footwear, Vuori Clothing

“Scott Hultgren has always been a pleasure to work with. An intuitive designer and art director with his finger on the pulse of current youth culture obsessions, Scott’s ability to bring a concept from initial conversation to a manifested product or campaign is top notch.”

– Andy Howell

Co-Founder Element Skateboards, Founder ArtProjekt, Co-CEO MatchCo Cosmetics

PROCESS

Global branding project, $20k set of car wheels, restaurant interior or $18 t-shirt, the formula remains the same.
  • 1

    Identify Problem

Before we can start anything, we need to know why the project exists. This can be simple "make us some awesome (fill-in product)", complex "our brand isn't where we want it to be" or anything in between.

  • 2

    Set Target

A crucial step where we set the target & work our way back. The design process is the same whether the project is for a 12yo or a guy who buys a Ferrari an AmEx Black but the results are night & day different.

  • 3

    Research

This could quite literally be listening to music (hence the Beastie Boys photo), resarching online, digging through a bookstore, shopping trendy LA Boutiques, snowboarding or any combination of the above.

  • 4

    Concept

This is where the magic happens, we collect & organize our research, then put pencil to paper. Sketches, notes & tidbits are scanned into the computer, we start fleshing out concepts & designs come together.

  • 5

    Design

We've received feedback from the concepts & revise the designs before handing off the final files. Then we wait and wait (and wait) for our babies to be released for everyone to enjoy (and us to show off)!
